Hoosiers Top Michigan State

IU 78 - MSU 71

How sweet it is!

We add to our NCAA resume and my Michigander wife gets to sulk for a week or so. Hopefully we get to add to her misery come the weekend when we play the Wolverweasels. Unfortunately, it's on the road where we have a perfect record.

Perfectly awful. As in "0" for the season in B10 play.

But first, Purdue at Hackey Arena Wednesday night. Complete the sweep and I can add to my "Trophy Board" which includes pix of wins over the PUkes and pUKes this year.

On the coaching front: Randy Wittman is being touted as the new Hoosier coach by ESPN's Michael Wilbon, who averred it was a done deal on Pardon the Interruption Monday night.

This and That...

* Now that it seems that Ted has given up on his quest to correct my theology, I can go back to posting to myself again. Now that he has heard Truth - not to mention rational argument, maybe he'll come to his senses vis a vis the Church, and while I suspect I'll not see him in Mass anytime soon, I hope he gets out of the hateful Church of Chick.

* It seems that a certain catfish-lovin' hick lawyer from Southern Illannoy - and I don't mean Abe Lincoln - and I are going to be cheering on our respective teams come basketball season for the next couple of years. My beloved Hoosiers will be taking on the evil Salukis in a home-and-home series.
SIU will travel to Bloomington, Ind., early next season. The Hoosiers will roll into SIU Arena on Dec. 1, 2007, for a contest sure to be highly anticipated by Salukis fans. Indiana played at SIU on Dec. 1, 2001, the last time a team from one of the six power conferences ventured into SIU Arena. A sold-out crowd witnessed a 72-60 win by the Salukis.Additionally, SIU football will meet the Big Ten Conference program on Sept. 16. The Hoosiers play at 52,180-seat Memorial Stadium. - The Southern Illinoisan

Come September 16th, we'll give the Salukis a foretaste of defeats to come on the hardwood when we pummel them on the gridiron.

Go Hoosiers!
*Anyway, back to the "Coach Watch." Cavs coach and Hoosier alum Wittman has interviewed for the head coach position at IU. Not much difference between Alford and Wittman, IMO, but at least he doesn't have Alford's record at Iowa to endear him to the Hoosier faithful.
* Sunday's game at Assembly Hall (Senior Day) vs MSU is a must win if we're to make a convincing case for inclusion in the NCAA tourney this year.
I suspect we're NIT bound, though. I wonder if Davis and the team will even bother? After last year's no show against Vandy, I'm not sure there's enough motivation if we have to settle for the NIT to make a run anyway.
* Not that I really give a crap, but the Sunnis and Shiites are making a hash of "democracy" in Iraq. As long as we don't try to play peacemaker between the two warring sides... I think we'd be better off getting the hell out of there and letting them kill each other off. Maybe the Kurds will inherit the whole mess.

In Which I Take On A Chicklet....

The Background:

I have included Dread's post for the sake of continuity, if it's a problem for him, I'll remove it.

Haloscan - from Vox's site:

MM - The challenge is accepted, because nothing is too often taught
that hasn't been sufficiently learned.Gen. Robert E. Lee was the only genuinely
American patriot on the Confederate side. His plan for victory, which would have
avoided a bloody war and restored the republic was soundly and vehemently
rejected by idol-worshipping Jefferson Davis and his Papist advisors. Once the
Vatican had Lincoln under similar control, they had no use for the Confederacy,
and used him to destroy it by doing what The Whore does best: "Let the blood
flow". Thus the vast military resources of the south were squandered and the CSA
was sentenced to a slow, lingering death. The Pope's boys running Davis sold him
the lie of separatism: That they could win by simply defending their own
territory and simply holding the Mason-Dixon line. It survives in too many forms
in strategic and tactical thinking to this day, and has a proven track record of
failure. Only Lee and Quantrell knew better, nobody else on their side gave a
shit to listen...Ted

It's no coincidence the Betsy Ross flag and the Confederate both have 13
stars: One was the swaddling cloth of America, the other was its funeral
garb. Ted

And the Pope, did he micro-manage the battles, too?MMIf you will
read
ROE, you will come to understand the REAL power of the "papacy" has shifted
from the "white" (visible) pope to the "black" (hidden) pope (the Superior
General of the Society of Jesus). This has been so ever since the
Reformation/Counter-reformation and it's public declaration and confirmation in
the decrees of "The Council of Trent," and reinforcement (albeit modification of
style) in Vatican II.One has got to understand how the "black pope" operates
within the confines of the Thirteen Articles of Warfare ("Art of War"). To
understand ALL warfare within the totality of U.S. history, one must first
understand the development and execution of the 1776 War for Independence.
Again,
ROE does not claim to provide all the answers.
However it does pose the serious student on what pertinant questions to
ask...Dread

MM - The Whore is always after one thing: What she calls in her Canon Law
& Dogma "temporal power", absolute control over every human being on earth,
their finances, and lastly, their religion. The tactics used to acquire same are
the same old political carrot-and-stick: What cannot be obtained by bribery will
be extracted by belligerence. It is the only road open to "a form of
godliness...denying the Power thereof."What Dread refers to as the "White Pope"
is the religious sideshow so many are deluded by, a sugar-coated, good-looking
vaneer of respectability that hides the devil-spirit powered, fear-and-egotism
driven political machine beneath. The phrase "Holy Roman Empire" is more
accurate than most suspect, especially the rank-and-file parishioner getting
ripped off spiritually by her lies. All other religion (man-made forms of
worship) is basically the same: What Islam is now, overtly, the RCC used to be
(inquisitions), and is now covertly. The devil knows most people will choose
looking and/or feeling good over being right, which is how his "merchants of the
earth" move religion. Ted

Nope hoosiertoo just read the Bible and compared it to the "Christian"
lies being moved in the world then did the math.Found it far preferable to
worshipping the earth-bitch.You should try it. Ted

Well hoosiertoo, maybe instead of deriding everyone else's ideas, you
could uncork your *ahem* vast database of arcane wisdom and share it with the
rest of us unenlightened heathen...Unless of course you already know it won't
bare scrutiny and examination.Virtue untested is no virtue at all. Ted

Ah, Ted.Time is at a premium. My own poor blog gets my considered attention maybe once in a blue moon.My *ahem* "vast database of arcane wisdom" is neither vast nor arcane. It does, in fact, consist mostly of dull, sometimes pedantic and occasionally brilliant paeans to orthodoxy, that same orthodoxy which gave you the Scripture you read.I've enough on my plate. Between my job, teaching CCD classes, playing with my grandchildren and trying to use the all to limited time I have left in the day to pray, keep up with my reading and track my other interests, I'll have to leave it to God to work on you just as I trust that He brought me to the Catholic church and I trust in Him to keep me on the right path. There is much in popular Catholicism that I mistrust. Even so, having waded through the morass that passes for the Protestantism here in the States, I have to conclude that the Church is where I belong. hoosiertoo 02.13.06 - 11:15 am #

From Ted's site:

If you read the Bible and believe it for what it says, THESE are your
enemies:The Roman Catholic cult. The Synagogue of Satan (And all the "industries"
it controls).Their children from fornication...Fanatical Islam and the
Kakostocracy. The "Global Government of God" they are attempting to build to
"make the world a better place".'Nuff said!7FEB06@0845Zulu

Posted at Ted's site in response:

Enough said? hardly...

I lose patience with haloscan discussions, and my time really is limited.

Virtue untested? If only...

Now, having not seen any of your *ahem* arcane sources, I can only assume from your *ahem* theology that you were educated mostly by Jack Chick and his ilk. As I don't expect anything I am likely to say or post will change your mind, I'll start with a little reading assignment:

Jack Chick debunked

I wouldn't even know where to begin with Dread. His posts at least have comic value...

My e-mail addy is legit. Feel free to correspond, if you'd like. I will post this response to my blog, poor as it is, and you're welcome to respond there as well.Don't be in a hurry, as I stay busy.

Warning: anything you send in e-mail is liable to be posted to the blog, and I may invite others to the dance. You may do likewise, of course.

Peace to you,
hoosiertoo (Don)

This ought to be entertaining...

Hoosier Nation in Disarray

Following the debacle in Bloomington vs. Iowa today, Hoosier Nation is looking at 5 losses in the Big Ten(11) and a 13-8 overall record.

Losers of 5 of 6 and seemingly unable to win on the road, with a team that looks to be in disarray and, according to more than one source, a coach who intends to resign are all signs that don't augur well for the rest of the season.

I gave up weeks ago. IU basketball has become unwatchable. Consistently poor fundamentals, matador defense and inconsistent play, not to mention the ugliest offense in NCAA Div 1.

The only good news is that Mike Davis is probably out. Unfortunately, it's also bad news. Davis, whatever his faults as a coach, seems to be a genuinely good guy and is well-liked by his players. It's hard to feel good about anything to do with this whole sad situation.

Even worse, the timetable is up in the air and the players seem to be demoralized. If Mike Davis is truly on the way out, it would be best to end it now, rather than drag it out for the rest of the season.

The King is terminally ill. It's time to choose his successor and finish it.

Long live the King - whoever it is to be.

Because I'm changing the quote (see left)

and this deserves to be seen at least a while longer...

It is no longer fashionable or acceptable for historians to insist that the US is the center of the world and the source of all that is good, from freedom to motherhood to apple pie. It is, however, perfectly acceptable to insist with the same self-centered arrogance that the United States is the source of all evil. Only we make mistakes or commit crimes, because, by unstated implication, only we make decisions or cause events. The rest of the world is passive and inert, and its fate is determined by what we do. In this sense the currently fashionable, self-flagellatory school of history is, at the very least, as arrogant and self-serving as the more traditional kind of self-serving history. - Bernard Lewis, In Defense of History.

A Plague on Both Their Houses

Posted this on a message board I infrequently frequent. kel (see links on left) seems to think this is worthy of posting here. As I value kel's opinion, I think I will.

***********************************************************************

In the *mostly* libertarian discussion groups I regularly follow, Republicans and Democrats are referred to as the "Bi-factional Ruling Party" (BuRP) or, alternately, Republicrats.

I believe the last reference to the idiot wing of the Democratic Party included the words "utterly clueless cretins on the left."

Bush supporters are routinely labelled "Three Monkey Republicans" and the folks (see: NRO) who seem to conflate their religion with a particular political party are routinely - and justly, IMO - derided.

In these circles Hillary Clinton (aka: The Lizard Queen) is the presumed next POTUS, provided the Republicans don't do something stupid like run Condi Rice and split the permanently aggrieved minority vote.

As the only difference this will make for the Republic is, well, not much, I feel confident that a wasted vote for a 3rd Party candidate will still not matter a whit.

Good thing they repealed prohibition.

Bah, humbug.
